You body needs carbs to make it function properly, too many are the issue. Your brain and your spinal column will not function well, and you won’t have any energy, if you don’t eat any carbohydrates.

Pastas and breads give you carbs as well as fruits and vegetables.

Your body takes the carbohydrates you consume and creates glucose in your blood in order for it to function well. It also stores these carbs, as energy, in your liver and muscles. If you exercise, which you should, you really need to eat carbs.

The problem is when you eat too many carbs, an over abundance of carbohydrates. For example my wife lost many pounds when she cut her cutting carbs to lose weight. She was used to eating breads and pastas, and when she limited these and did more exercising the pounds started “falling off”.

Carbohydrates turn into glucose, and if your body doesn’t use them, they turn into FAT. They are stored in your body as fat. The issue with most people is that they eat more than what they need of carbs. In the forms of processed foods, baked goods, different breads, and a lot of pasta.

A “catch 22″? Your body needs enough carbs to function, but too many of them makes you fat. Well, follow the following rules:

-Only eat starchy carbohydrates after a body workout or other physical activity.

Bread and pasta are wheat based, so if you are allergic to wheat products then try the following alternatives. Try sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice. Use different grains you may not be used to, like millet, quinoa, or spelt.

Fruits and vegetables are carbohydrates you can have with every meal. Have a bowl of berries with your breakfast, have an apple with your lunch, and definitely have vegetables with every one of your meals.

Toast or breakfast tacos in the morning, tortillas or other breads for lunch, and rice for dinner are too many carbs so it’s no wonder why a person who indulges in these things is obese. Especially when most of us sit down at our jobs. If you are moving around all day, great, but that’s not most of us.

Here is a sample menu for the day:

Breakfast
-Eggs
-A bowl of berries

Snack 1
-Apple
-Raw Nuts

Lunch
-Raw and cooked vegetables
-A Salad
-An orange

Snack 2
-Carrots
-Celery
-Almond butter

Dinner
-Salad
-Meat (Poultry or Beef)
-More cooked vegetables

Kind of blah? Remember, it’s “Eat to Live” not “Live to Eat”.

Eating the preceding items will give you sufficient carbohydrates for the day. Not to mention cutting carbs to lose weight will make you feel energized and great.
